Utility Maintenance Technician


Job Details

Must Haves:

  • Experience with utility systems boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVACR systems, Water for injection (WFI), glycol, steam, steam traps, compressed air, Air handling units (AHU), etc.
  • Experience performing general routine maintenance filter changes, bulb replacement, blowdowns, system drain/flush etc.
  • Experience filling out log books
  • Ability to follow processes and document accordingly
  • Hardworking and reliable

Pluses:

  • Experience with critical alarm monitoring
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience such as Siemens, Honeywell, Delta V
  • Experience with work order management systems like SAP, Maximo, Blue Mountain
  • Ability to read P&ID s, electrical drawings, blueprints etc.

Day to Day:

A large pharmaceutical client of ours is looking for 2 Utility System Support Technicians to join their team in Durham NC to help support a new product build out at the site. Responsibilities are as followed.

  1. Be present within the Project building to monitor conditions inside and out minimum of 2 people should be present at all times to ensure safety.
  2. Building Rounds every hour
  3. Walk the entire building (inside and outside) and monitor all Systems and Building conditions and note any anomalies (Sounds, Smells, Leaks, Lighting conditions, Environmental Conditions, etc.)
  4. Fill out Equipment Log on each operational system (Logs to be developed with Vendor Support and filled out once per shift)
  5. Merck Global Engineering Services GES and our Construction Manager (DPR) to develop logs and procedures so expectations are understood for monitoring the building and equipment. The procedure will need to be amended as the project systems progress.
  6. System Support
  7. Perform routine Maintenance (Filter changes, Bulb Replacement, Blowdowns, System Drain/Flush, etc.) as required per vendor guidelines
  8. Cycle Equipment on/off as needed to be worked out as systems come online
  9. Respond to alarms - Initiate emergency shutdown if needed
  10. Support Flushing of Hydronic Systems - Domestic Water, Chilled Water, Hot Water and WFI
  11. Support / Execute sanitization processes on utility equipment
  12. Monitor 24/7 OC, OQ, PQ Testing processes to verify progress
  13. Turnover to follow on shift
