Unit Clerk Float (Full Time- Day/Evening Shift)

General Summary of PositionMedStarNational Rehab Hospital is looking for a Full Time Unit Clerk in the Float Poolunit. This position is 40 hours per week and will rotate between the followingshifts 7:00AM-3:30PM and 3:00PM-11:30PM with rotating weekend.
The Unit Clerk is accountable for the provision of clerical service to aspecific patient care center to include direct and indirect communication,coordination of information and resources in a safe and efficient environment.The incumbent in this position will work in a 'float' capacity where theindividual will be required to work within various different departments basedon clinical need.

What you will do
Performsreception, clerical and information system functions which support thestandards of MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) and theNursing Services.
Maintains theNursing Station as a vital communication center.
Communicateswith all levels of employees, patients and visitors.
Preparesrecords and reports and maintains charts as directed.
Participates ineffective and efficient management of material and financial resources.
Informs theDirector of Nursing and/or Clinical Manager of unit status in regards toclerical function, system maintenance and work flow.
Responsible forthe implementation of customer service standards with patient, family,staff and visitors.
Demonstratesjob knowledge and takes steps to remain competent in skills required.
Participates innursing in-services.
Maintainshospital and unit based competency.
Uses electronicsystems as required to comply with mandatory education and training.
Assist with thetraining of new nursing staff.
Demonstratesinterest in the position, keeps up-to-date with changes inresponsibilities and makes efforts to learn new skills.
Attends staffmeeting or attains newsletter to gain information related to unitactivities and goals.

Qualifications
High SchoolDiploma or GED Required or
Less than 1year 6 months of hospital or health service related experience Preferred
The idealcandidate must have excellent customer service skills, sensitivity topatients and family members, be able to work in a team with varioushealthcare professionals, ability to multi task in a fast pacedenvironment and be highly organized.
