SRE Lead/Manager | San Diego, CA | Full-time
Role Overview: As the Engineering Manager for Site Reliability, you'll lead the charge in transitioning to cloud-based solutions while ensuring the stability of our existing systems for our rapidly growing user base, currently standing at around one million. You'll spearhead our cloud infrastructure strategy alongside a talented team of two Site Reliability Engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Site Reliability Engineers, overseeing recruitment, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Develop and maintain the company's cloud infrastructure strategy and roadmap for the Site Reliability Engineering team.
- Implement reliability metrics, advocate for initiatives to mitigate risks, and enhance SRE processes and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance, make high-level decisions, and act as a knowledge hub for the team.
- Manage team resources, assign tasks and projects, estimate project timelines, and advocate for necessary engineering resources.
- Drive ongoing improvements in SRE practices and broader Engineering Department efficiencies.
- Foster cross-team communication, acting as the main liaison between the SRE team, other engineering teams, and company stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring scalable infrastructure for web applications within the AWS ecosystem.
- Demonstrated leadership in technical strategy and project execution.
- Proficiency in deploying and managing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
- Familiarity with Node.js (preferred) and/or PHP, along with technologies like MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Apache, and nginx.
- Preferably, prior experience in full-stack or backend software engineering, and in people management, particularly in SRE or DevOps roles.
