We are a nonprofit agency providing residential, educational, and family/community-based treatment services for emotionally disturbed, abused and neglected children from infancy through adolescence. We are currently looking for a part-time (10 hours/week) Accounting Clerk. This position pays $25/hour.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Open mail and direct documents to appropriate departments

* Receive checks/payments, make copies with remittance and forward to appropriate department

* Maintain Cash Register - reconcile donations with Development Batch Reports

* Create and distribute Monthly Credit Card activity reports

* Responsible for accounts payable processing, including reviewing obtaining approvals and coding invoices, weekly printing and distributing of vendor checks, Maintain the AP module in the accounting system (MIP) and vendor files. Process check requests. Maintain 1099 information, process and distribute 1099's. Maintain vendor relationships and files, and update vendor data in accounting system

* Maintain and file all accounting documents (AP, AR, GL)

* Data Entry including:

* AR payments received

* AR monthly invoices

* CR monthly deposits

* GL monthly journal entries

* As part of a small finance team, contribute to accounting duties as assigned including but not limited to journal entries, fixed assets, deferred revenue and account reconciliations

* Interact with agency staff re: accounts payable processing

* Assist Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with special projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* High school graduate with at least 5 years accounting/bookkeeping experience using a professional accounting system.

* Must be organized, efficient, and professional, with strict attention to detail and confidentiality.

* Must have excellent computer skills, have experience with the MIP accounting system or have the capacity to learn it quickly, and be skilled in using Excel.

* Must be able to work comfortably and effectively with a diverse group of staff members and the general public, both on the phone and in person.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team or independently.

PREFERRED:

* Some college level accounting

* Background in a business office and/or non-profit environment.

* Experience using AP/AR modules of MIP accounting software.

Financial management-In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial accounting (nonprofit preferred), cost allocations, insurance and risk management, financial tools and systems.

Safety - The employee is safety conscious about the work environment and equipment. The work area is free of debris to prevent trip and slip hazards. Standard operating procedures, safety work rules and good general practices are followed on a daily basis.
