DAV is currently searching for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Employment Specialist.

Job Summary:

The Employment Specialist will assist the National Employment Director and Assistant National Employment Directors with the delivery and support of DAV s National Employment Programs initiatives, resources, tools and information updates.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in engaging with employers, agencies and educational institutions on DAV programs, events, best practices, tax incentives and other resources to educate and support company representatives
  • Coordinate corporate partnership engagements with the corporate partnership team regarding job fairs to ensure execution of contract benefits and deliverables including marketing, communications, booth setup, stats and impact report information
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, government officials, and media representatives, and use these relationships to develop new business opportunities across DAV business lines
  • Principal liaison with VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Local Veterans' Employment Representatives and the Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program Representatives to create enhanced opportunities for employment and preferential job placement of disabled veterans
  • Manage Patriot Employer Program designed to recognize top employers from across the country for their hiring practices. This includes, but not limited to, nomination packet review, dissemination of the Patriot Employer digital badge with email welcome message, marketing and communications information, and primary coordinator of National Convention attendance for employer award winners
  • Coordinate and participate in compiling, uploading, and grading of employer award nomination packets to include LVER/DVOP nominations. Assist in maintaining G drive folder spreadsheets and reports for award nominations
  • Coordinate activities associated with DAV | RecruitMilitary Career Fairs including logistics, stats, social media and graphics information and expanding partnership growth potential
  • Manage employment department s website through the coordination of graphics, approved content, verification of website resource links, gathering website analytics and offering suggestions as to information and content updates
  • Coordinate activities with corporate partners to include agreement/contract review, magazine/newsletter content, social media posts, monthly meetings participation and new initiatives development contributor
  • Maintain Strategic Plan goals spreadsheet containing impact report statistics and activities in support of quarterly update staff meetings for the department director
  • Provide position orientation, job training, direction and mentorship to the Assistant to the National Employment Director. This includes, but is not limited to, POC on inquiries, projects, event management, process document maintenance and routine partnership engagement
  • Engagement with other departments regarding employment department resources, information, statistics and offerings for job fair participation and placement
  • Department s corporate partner liaison providing introduction to the DAV with emphasis on the employment department s resources, tools and information in an effort to foster further engagement with the DAV

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Thorough understanding of DAV s Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, and Mission
  • Thorough understanding of Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Workforce Training and Development, Progressive Discipline and Risk Management
  • Working knowledge of veteran benefits and other DAV services/programs
  • Functional user of standard business computer, Microsoft Office software suite, and various computerized record systems/databases to retrieve automated veterans records
  • Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • A valid motor vehicle driver s license (other than motorcycle) is required
