Additional Unit Specific Information: The patients are acute neuro population and we use lots of team work, Average LOS is 2.2 days, fast turnover of patients, will discharge patients and fill with admission immediately, and large amount of discharge teaching especially for trachs and pegs. Stroke CEUs required for Joint Commission certifications. RNs must be comfortable with PCAs and required monitoring as well as familiar with epidurals. Phlebotomy skills required. Team in house for AM labs and routine labs. Outside of this RN is responsible for PIV insertion and phlebotomy. Blood product administration is common on this unit.
