Position Summary

This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating production floor activities, budget and investment; ensuring the safety of personnel, the quality, delivery and cost of the product for the full satisfaction of our customers; continuous improvement for increased productivity, and cost savings while providing a healthy and positive work environment for employees. The position will provide direct leadership to the production manager, department supervisors, team leaders, and support production employees during the manufacturing process. This position will report directly to the VP of Operations.

Primary Duties

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, government regulations by employees.
  • Champion a positive team environment striving for continuous improvement focused on Safety, Quality, On-time Delivery, and Cost.
  • Checking quotes from estimators before sending to customer
  • Drive and participate in continuous improvement activities in areas of responsibility.
  • Provide direction to supervisors and leads in resolving safety concerns, quality, production, scheduling, technical, and personnel issues.
  • Timely communication of concerns and solutions to the General Manager.
  • Responsible for effective operation of all equipment.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors, leads, and production personnel.
  • Ensure that the required manpower, skills, knowledge, and equipment are in place to support production demands.
  • Lead safety program.
  • Plan, assign, and/or supervise goals and work of others.
  • Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports.
  • Ensure professional development of direct reports.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and recognition of employees.
  • Make data driven decisions based on KPIs
  • Must be able to resolve Work order performance as it relates to quotes
  • Oversee an environment that is a combination of general office and regular shop assembly/distribution center

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication
  • Detail-oriented and excellent follow through skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office programs
  • Proven ability to manage people, train and motivate employees, and delegate effectively
  • Excellent project management and planning skills
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and effective organizational skills.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs. as needed

Education

Bachelor s degree preferred with 5 years of management experience in sheet metal fabrication

Associate degree with 8 years of management experience in sheet metal fabrication will be considered (We will not turn away someone with only a high school degree with extensive relevant experience)

Combination general office and regular shop assembly/distribution center environment
