OVERVIEW
The Senior Soft Goods Designer position focuses on a understanding, at a high level, fashion and color trends and applying this knowledge across all of our product lines. The Senior Soft Goods Designer works directly with the engineering and hardgoods design team to create soft goods for strollers, carseats and accessories in addition to creating technical specs for these products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trend, color and material research
Innovative thinking and ideation and using such materials a trend boards, trend presentations, product renderings and creation of physical samples to communicate these ideas
Working collaboratively with the hardgoods design team to create cohesive product execution
Procurement of materials and fabrics through various sources to maintain a fresh and on-trend product line
Daily communications with overseas factories
Review of samples from overseas and communicate changes and improvements
Overseas travel to work with our suppliers and factories
Domestic travel for conferences and trade shows
10% of time annually may be devoted to travel
Scheduling projects with project management in order to hit deadlines and ensure information is communicated in a timely fashion both internally and externally
Attendance at select conferences and tradeshows
Communication with outside design an engineering resources as needed
Creating and maintaining technical specs for all soft goods related products
Independently manage multiple projects
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator (other comparable software also acceptable)
Excellent 2D fashion rendering skills
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft word
In-depth understanding of the product manufacturability
Self-motivated to complete all task required of the job and high attention to detail
Strong problem-solving skills
Passion showing an appreciation for strong aesthetics
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor s degree (or higher) in industrial design, or comparable program within fashion design
6+ years experience in industrial design and product development
Juvenile product development experience is a plus
