Serco's Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) is seeking an Entry-to-Mid level Marine/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer for the role of Test Engineer, in support of highly advanced Navy and commercial test programs including but not limited to the DARPA/Navy autonomous NOMARS vessel R&D program and the US Navy's VTAS development effort. As a member of Serco's MEO, the legacy of famed firm JJMA, you will be joining one of the largest and most accomplished Maritime Engineering groups with a 70-year heritage of excellence in our Arlington, VA office. The Test Engineer will receive direction from the Test and Evaluation lead and Program Management as necessary to properly plan, document and execute successful test programs, from initial development thru test execution.

In this role, you will:

  • Review product or system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics and assist in the overall planning, installation, integration, and execution of various test operations at test sites, and or support test operations at offsite vendor test facilities.
  • Oversee the testing, maintenance and repair of complex marine apparatus and equipment.
  • Monitor conditions under which tests are to be conducted, as well as sequences and phases of test operations.
  • Oversee contractor support for maintenance and upgrade functions.
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings with respect to site design or test status.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and describe activities planned and accomplished.
  • Confer with the Lead Test or Design personnel to clarify or resolve test issues, and to develop or modify maintenance or corrective activities accordingly.
  • Lead in the inspection of the test equipment and machinery in order to document and identify issues.
  • Evaluate operation of marine equipment during acceptance testing in order to document and identify issues.
  • Capture and review test data.
  • Assist in the development of system maintenance plans and or procedures.
  • Assist in the development of system test procedures.


Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in either Marine, Mechanical, or the Electrical Engineering field with 1 to 3 years of related experience, or commensurate work experience of 10+ years with marine/ship systems, operations, maintenance, or engineering.
  • Previous work experience in Test Engineering environments, with knowledge of standard testing methodologies.
  • Willing to work with your hands on machinery and electrical components if required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred qualifications:
  • A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
  • Experience in data acquisition system operation.
  • Experience working with Diesel engines and or generators.
  • Experience with power electronics, and or ac/dc distribution systems.
  • Experience in network and communication systems.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC code.
  • Experience with standard MS tools such as PP, Excel, work ect.
