Job Description:

COMPANY SUMMARY:

Machine Solutions, Inc. (MSI) is a pioneer and leading supplier of medical product process and testing equipment. MSI has been instrumental in automating or semi-automating several manual processes within stent and catheter manufacturing organizations. We offer an excellent opportunity for highly motivated individuals in a fast-paced, biotech organization.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

This position requires shipping skills for both international and domestic customers. This position is responsible for preparing and packaging of shipments that leave MSI and tracking those shipments throughout the delivery process to the client's location. Maintaining a detailed log of what leaves the facility each month. Ensure costs related to the packaging, shipping and delivery of product fall within MSI cost standards and make suggestions for better shipping methods and practices. This position works closely with receiving and inventory as a team and downtime is spent cross training in other roles within the team. Some inter-departmental coordination as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive shipments of parts and supplies, unbox/unwrap them, inspect for damage and defects, ensure packing list is correct and deliver products to their proper location.
  • Maintain files of packing lists and certification documents.
  • Document inventory quantities in MSI's operating platform to ensure inventory control and job requisition.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure projected deadlines for shipping of product are met.
  • Pack machines and items to be shipped to customers and vendors including handling large crates and boxes, using hand tools and fork lift in both indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Ensure truck/container/air shipments fall within the required weight limits and dimensions.
  • Generate PO's and ship product
  • Be capable of shipping to both International and Domestic customers and Vendors.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment, including disposing of the crates, boxes and trash related to unpacking or shipping of product.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure safety guidelines closely followed in all duties
  • May lead, guide and train employees and/or interns performing related work


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent minimum.
  • Must have a high level of math, computer, and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and detailed oriented.
  • Multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with both internal and external organizations
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple activities while working both independently and in a team environment.


Preferred:
  • Typical work is in a manufacturing environment
  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred
  • Experience using FedEx and UPS shipping.
  • Experience with international shipment documentation including Bills of Lading and Commercial Invoices
  • Working knowledge of contemporary LEAN manufacturing practices
  • Minimum of 2 years' progressive experience in Inventory Control, Shipping or Receiving that includes import/export


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will spend most time using hands to crate, box, and ship machines or parts
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs./ 23 kilograms
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Work with team to lift and move large machines into crates and boxes
  • Safe handling of power tools. (Drills, saws, hoists.)
  • Ability to properly operate a forklift
  • Extended amounts of time kneeling or crouching.
  • Ability to move large amounts of shipping supplies/crates.
  • Ability to correctly operate a pallet jack.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Can be loud (Noise from the machine shop and manufacturing area and compressed air).

Minimal time is spent in wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, near fumes or airborne particles, near toxic or caustic chemicals, and in outdoor conditions.
