Skilled Bridgeworker

Team member will lead unskilled bridgeworkers and receive direction from supervisors in the construction process and be willing to learn the skills necessary to improve.

Core Duties

  • Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times
  • Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind
  • Adhere to all SCI safety policies at all times
  • Perform tasks that have been assigned by your supervisor
  • Be proficient in the use of non-powered hand and basic power tools in bridge construction
  • Tie reinforcing steel using a tie twister
  • Load and discharge a concrete bucket
  • Install and remove concrete formwork
  • Operate concrete vibrator during concrete placement
  • Be able to lead pile driving operations
  • Proficient in the use of oxygen/acetylene torches
  • Proficient knowledge of rigging equipment and procedures
  • Be proficient with and be able to lead unskilled bridgeworkers with work associated with a power screed
  • Work alone or in a small group without direct supervision from the Foreman or Superintendent
  • Be familiar with the basic skills of reading plans
  • Learn how to use basic surveying equipment to establish line and grade
  • Act as a role model for unskilled bridgeworkers
  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities
  • Willingness to work hours as required

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • OSHA Safety Training
  • Rigging Cert.
  • Signal Person Cert.
  • Flagger
