EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Assists in the preparation and serving of food; assists in setting up steam table for food service; sells food to students; sets up utensils and other condiments and supplies; supervises student help; operates various kitchen equipment; cleans food service facilities, equipment and utensils; transfers food to and from various serving, preparation and selling areas; assists in taking inventories; responsible for the operation and cleaning of various kitchen equipment. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Typically requires completion of a high school curriculum and less than one year experience in quantity food preparation. Additional experience may substitute for education. Licenses and Certificates: Food Handlers Permit. Knowledge and/or Skills: Basic knowledge of institutional quantity food preparation, methods, procedures and service; weights and measures; and kitchen safety and sanitation. Abilities: Must be able to perform the routine duties of the position under direct supervision. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Physical Abilities: Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel and stoop. Lifts up to 25 pounds on a continuous basis; may lift medium to heavy objects up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Requires the ability to handle hot materials and working an environment dominated by wide temperature extremes.
