Your Impact:

The Fitness Director position is a high-profile leadership position that is responsible for helping the Executive Director with the overall direction, coordination, operation, and success of the Department. You will ensure the Department meets or exceeds financial goals, while providing remarkable leadership in areas of member experience, team member experience, new membership growth, in-Branch business performance, and member participation.

What You'll Do:

  • Own your department s overall business to drive efficiency and grow members served (sales).
  • Provide member services in personal training, small group training, and wellness evaluations.
  • Directly delivers as well as leads teams that also deliver the following:
  • Develops safe, professional, and comprehensivemember fitnessprograms that drivemembergoal achievement and retention
  • Monitors and instructsmembers duringinformalfloor observations and formalpersonal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment
  • Conducts fitness consultations for newmembersincluding pre-participationconsults,goalquestionnaire, and goal setting to assess and recommend personal trainingand other fitnessprograms
  • Provides fitness floor assistance to all members to ensure safety, provide education, and motivate members
  • Fulfills member service requirements such as fitness assessments and equipment operations, service desk duties and fitness equipment cleaning
  • Promotes and sells personal training programs and services
  • Completes all administrative requirements associated with each client s fitness plan
  • Remains current on certifications and new trends in the industry
  • Ensures all members feel competent, confident, and connected by providing superior customer service through complementary and based services/programming
  • Remains current on credentials and continuing education to advance throughout the levels program

What Qualifications You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, exercise science, human services, or equivalent experience
  • Experience as a supervisor and staff development is strongly preferred
  • Current Personal Training certification preferred, or acquired within 90 days of employment
  • Scout talent, interviews and trains new instructors and personal trainers (assisting with their certification process, new procedures, policies, programs and services.
  • Provides feedback and tools to help team members improve their skill sets, with follow-up
  • Develops positive relationships with members and team members while building communities
  • Performance manages team members with timely and clean discussions regarding developmental opportunities and strengths
  • Optimizes schedule operations while driving business and member experience
  • Keep abreast and understand the related industry current market situations
  • Manages a budget and delivers on target participation expectations
  • Teaches classes as needed
