The Production Manager is responsible for the process management in the areas of safety, productivity, quality, housekeeping and continuous improvement in the production department, while supervising employees in the daily routine of producing quality corrugated products in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all DS Smith standards.Areas of Responsibility:Responsible for the development and maintenance of a 'Safety First' cultureResponsible for the control and maintenance of Plant safety, production, quality and waste percentages to company expectations (4 key drivers)Responsible for training, planning, scheduling, assigning and directing work, hiring, evaluating employee performance, employee accountability, promoting teamwork, resolving conflict and problem solving.80% of time spent on production floor engaged with personnel and production KPI's.Responsible for maintenance and scheduling of PMs in conjunction with the maintenance departmentResponsible for machine routing and quoting of new business in conjunction with planning and scheduling.Assist Quality Manager in problem solving customer complaints while using an interdepartmental approach.Responsible for communicating openly with both Supervisors and hourly employees and other departments.Responsible for the maintenance and improvement daily plant housekeeping standard.Responsible for the development of supervisors for advancement within companyResponsible for participating and resolving employee relations issues.Daily end of shift reports of production and weekly status meeting regarding open projects.Supervisory Responsibilities:Manages supervisors who supervise a total of 50+/-employees in production and converting.Supervises and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.The candidate:Education & CertificationsFive plus years of supervisory experience in corrugated manufacturing is preferred.Bachelors preferred or associate degree is required.
