Personal Lines Account Manager

Primary Functions

This is a licensed insurance agent position. Candidate will be responsible for servicing accounts, and handling and processing new and renewal personal lines business, including but not limited to personal Home, Auto, RV and Umbrella coverage. Maintains familiarity with the various application forms and underwriting requirements for each line of coverage.

Major Responsibilities

1. Market personal lines new business, including but not limited to: home, renter, dwelling fire, auto, recreational vehicle, motorcycle, umbrella and flood insurance.

2. Determine premiums, prepare and present proposals to clients and maintain underwriting and marketing information by carrier.

3. Check new and renewal policies for accuracy in rating, typing, coverages, signatures, and input these transactions to generate billing invoices. Ensure that these items are delivered and/or mailed to client.

4. Answer questions for and provide services to applicants and policyholders.

5. Promote agency and insurance industry in the community.

6. Keep informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending insurance carrier training meetings on new products, etc.

7. Receive phone calls from clients and companies regarding insurance, claims, or administrative problems, and comply with the request.

8. Set up and maintain clean and accurate client files.

9. Maintain a suspense system to follow up on outstanding orders, correspondence, reports, and follow up on overdue and suspense items.

10. Maintain production reports.

11. Be familiar with and follow agency E&O guidelines.

12. Maintain electronic and/or paper files in an orderly, up-to-date manner.

13. Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by agency management.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and build solid relationships within a diverse population of clients, companies, and co-workers. Courteous, friendly, and helpful. Must have effective communication skills both verbal and written, good listening skills, and attention to detail. Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate complex and technical insurance information. Ability to demonstrate professionalism by personal conduct and attitudes that enhance strength of the team and the reputation of the agency. Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in maintaining the confidentiality of information encountered in the workplace.

Must be a self-starter, well organized, self-motivated, with the ability to effectively multitask, and prioritize workload and/or request assistance as required. Ability to identify areas of need and willingness to offer assistance to others. Presents an image appropriate for the workplace. Accuracy in data entry. Ability to learn, navigate, and effectively utilize the agency s management system, carrier websites, industry resources, and other required technologies. Ability to maintain required licensure throughout the course of employment.

qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred. A minimum of two years experience in personal lines insurance or similar position is preferred. Or any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to do the job. Must be licensed as a Property & Casualty Insurance Producer in Oregon per state requirements, or capable of becoming licensed within first 3 months of employment. Experience working with computers, including Microsoft Applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel is required.


OTHER INFORMATION

Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions. Frequently sit for long periods of time. This is a public contact position that requires appropriate business apparel. Responsibilities may include travel to local client and carrier locations during the workday, as well as occasional local and out of town travel for continuing education. If driving is required, candidate must have insured vehicle and be legally eligible to drive.
