Job Title: Project Engineer-Project Estimator
Reports to: Project Manager/Vice President/President
Position Summary
Davidson s Masonry, Inc. (DMI) is a growing and dynamic Masonry construction company with offices on Oahu and Headquartered in Salem, Oregon. We have an opening for a Project Engineer-Project Estimator. The position will be based in Oahu but will travel to Oregon Headquarters as needed but not limited to quarterly. Responsibilities will include: Preparation of job estimates and management for projects primarily on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island. Assist in the management of on-going DMI projects in all regions if needed (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Hawaiian Islands).
Areas of Responsibility
Identify prospective jobs to bid, attend preconstruction meetings and pre-bid job walks, and prepare construction estimates for the work.
Market company services to key customers, as directed.
Develop and maintain quality relationships with customers, suppliers and vendors.
Prepare RFIs, order materials, track change orders, safety meeting/compliance, prepare submittals, and prepare/track schedules. Attend weekly subcontractor meetings, as required.
Manage selected Company jobs and execute in a professional, high quality and safe manner at all times and ensure all required paperwork is completed and submitted, as required.
Assisting with on-going projects, including coordinating disposal bins, clearances, obtaining/delivering project supplies, coordinating required project approvals, attending weekly job meetings, tracking change orders, preparing monthly billings, and other tasks as directed by the project manager.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Management
Provide clear verbal and written communications.
Maintain a positive attitude and address issues with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Communicate with Project Managers, Vice President and President regularly on work status and Company opportunities, as well as risks or challenges e.g. presented by third parties like community activists, regulators and competitors.
Qualifications
1 5 years experience in general construction including civil/building. Masonry Construction is a plus.
Proficiency in estimating & take-offs.
Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
Effective sales and negotiation skills.
Effective problem-solving and mediation skills.
Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
Proficiency with office computer equipment and software, including on-screen takeoff or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
