TITLE: ANTICIPATED VEHICLE MECHANIC

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum five years experience and/or education at accredited School(s) in repair and diagnosis of gasoline and diesel engines and their components.

  2. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

  3. Ability to work safely while using tools and equipment.

  4. Required criminal history background check and proof of citizenshipor legal resident alien status.

  5. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

  6. Should be able to obtain a commercial driver's license.

  7. Must be able to work cooperatively with fellow employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feelobjects, tools or controls and be able to talk or hear.

  2. Required to continuously use hand strength to grasp tools more thanthe average person while performing the duties of this job.

  3. Required to frequently bend, reach forward, squat and twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

  4. Required to frequently move or lift up to 75 pounds repetitively.

  5. Required to push/pull items such as air compressors, scaffolds and other related equipment.

  6. Must be able to go up and down steps repeatedly without restrictionsas well as climb ladders.

  7. Must have no physical restrictions for working with chemical agentssuch as oil, cleaners and gasoline.

  8. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  9. Required to work indoors and outdoors.

  10. Must be able to stretch forward and up, bend down and squat without restrictions for required tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Diagnoses and repairs all district vehicles.

  2. Maintain and keep current all documentation necessary to remain compliant will all applicable state and federal regulations.

  3. Performs inspections as required by Motor Vehicle laws of the State of New Jersey, including the recording of deficiencies found and work performed.

  4. Performs other routine vehicle maintenance and preventive care as scheduled and assigned.

  5. Performs all work using high standards of safety and good housekeeping practices.

  6. Keeps abreast of technological advancements in the industry.

  7. May be on 24-hour call.

  8. Must work cooperatively with the head mechanic and other employees.

  9. Must have a valid driver's license.

  10. Should obtain a commercial driver's license within six (6) months.

  11. When needed by the Supervisor, can drive a school bus as a substitute bus driver.

  12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month Year
