About the English Department at Presentation High School

During four years of English classes at Presentation, students at Presentation read extensively, exploring a wide variety of authors, eras, and genres; they are also taught to express their thoughts clearly and articulately through creative writing projects, essays, and long-form critical research papers. Returning graduates often mention how grateful they feel for the college-level preparation provided by the English Department at Pres.

We are always looking to improve and are currently working on our assessments. We are evaluating the purpose of both formative and summative assessments and plan on using Backwards By Design Planning to analyze and, if need be, redesign formative assessments to ensure that we are practicing those skills we want to assess summatively.
