Gundersen Tri-County is seeking a casual/on-call EMT to join our organization. This is your opportunity to do the work you love in the beautiful Coulee region of Whitehall, WI in our brand-new hospital!

What you will do:

* Responds, treats, and transports patients in emergency and non-emergency settings.

* Functions as a crew member of an ambulance in both the 911 and the interfacility transfer environments.

* Performs EMT level clinical care under the guidelines of Gundersen Health System and Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics medical direction.

* Work a minimum of 24 hours/month (8, 12, or 24-hour shifts)

What you need:

* High School Diploma or equivalency

* Valid driver's license (DL)

* 1 year of experience working as an EMT, AEMT preferred

* Valid certified emergency vehicle operator (CEVO or EVOC) within 1 year of hire

* National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (NREMT) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P)

* Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) or Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced (AEMT) or Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P)

* Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Job Description:

Responds, treats, and transports patients in emergency and non-emergency settings. Functions as a crew member of an ambulance in both the 911 and the interfacility transfer environments. Performs EMT level clinical care under the guidelines of Gundersen Health System and Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics medical direction.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge of an EMT per the standards set forth by the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety and Administration, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the National Registry of EMTs.

2. Demonstrate the ability to render competent and clinically proficient patient care.

3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of, and compliance with, all protocols for medical care per Gundersen Tri-County Ambulance policies.

4. Demonstrate the attitude of a Health Care Professional to include, but not be limited to maintaining a clean appearance; demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior; maintaining confidentiality; and demonstrating the ability to work cooperatively with other members of the EMS Health Care System.

5. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to inspect, safely operate, and maintain an emergency vehicle and demonstrate knowledge and compliance with all State laws pertaining to the safe operation of an emergency vehicle.

6. Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to inspect, safely operate, and maintain all equipment and tools relevant to an EMT.

7. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of, and compliance with, Gundersen Tri-County Ambulance and local communications policies and procedures.

8. Demonstrate the ability to communicate patient information to other members of the health care profession.

9. Demonstrate the ability to communicate information through the proper chain of command, to the management and other employees of Gundersen Tri-County Ambulance.

10. Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with local, state and regional emergency medical dispatching system operations.

11. Demonstrate the ability to accurately and completely document information required by Gundersen Tri-County Ambulance and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

12. Demonstrate a sincere desire to continually improve and upgrade the skills and knowledge of the emergency medical profession.

13. Assures vehicles and stations are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.

14. Performs additional tasks as assigned by Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics management.
