What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

Woodard & Curran is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman in Carlinville, Illinois. In this role, you will be involved in the operations and maintenance of the facilities, troubleshooting problems and supervising Union staff.

Essential duties include but not limited to:

    • Responsible for the efficient daily operation and maintenance of the City's wastewater treatment plant operations, and supervision of employees
    • Administer processes and decisions that maintain efficient plant operation
    • Maintain proper balance of treatment process to remain in compliance with all applicable State and Federal requirements
    • Maintain lab work in compliance with all necessary testing requirements of the State
    • Maintain daily operations of all sewage lift stations
    • Maintain the City sewage collection system including but not limited to flushing, jetting, vacuum, cleaning and removal of grease
    • Open and close valves as needed for plant operation
    • Operate mechanical pumps as needed for plant operation
    • Sludge handling, processing and hauling
    • Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to, snow plows, jetters, and excavators
    • Install and maintain sewer pumps
    • Take readings, tests and records temperatures and usage of chemicals; checks pumps and other equipment to ensure they are operational
    • Maintains shop equipment as well as vehicles
    • General cleaning and painting
    • Maintains City grounds and parkways, particularly in parkways impacted by sewer repairs or installations


What will you need to succeed?
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must possess a Illinois Class 1 Wastewater Operator license or seven years of experience in water/wastewater operations and maintenance.
    • Valid Illinois driver's license and CDL required.
    • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements, work operations, methods, and techniques used in the maintenance, repair, installation and construction of municipal wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, sanitary collection system, equipment and systems.
    • Ability to work carry out verbal and written instructions


$24.90 - $30 an hour

The salary ranges given below are a national average only and may be different for this role based on specific collective bargaining agreements or contract requirements.

Please reference this project specific pay range instead. In addition, for facilities that are unionized and receive benefits through the union, the benefits may differ from what is listed.

Project Specific Pay Range: $24.90 - $30.00/hour.
