Role Description:

The Residential Services Associate, reporting to the Residential Services Supervisor, is responsible for working in our medically managed detoxification and residential treatment settings along with a team of experienced Counselors, Case Managers, Medical Associates, Peer Support Workers, RNs, LPNs, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians. The Residential Services Associate position assists the multi-disciplinary team as they collect objective and subjective data from observations, examinations, interviews, and written records in an accurate and timely manner. The Residential Services Associate assists clients as they navigate the treatment environment, documents care provided in the electronic health record, collaborates with the team to carry out the plan of care, engages with patients/clients with empathy, kindness, and respect, follows orders of the Residential Director, and carries out tasks as assigned by program management. The Residential Services Associate ensures a safe and healthy environment conducive to world-class, person-centered care.

Schedule:

Full Time (32-40 hours) Night Shift (7 pm-7 am) weekend availability

Requested schedules will be taken into consideration. However permanent schedules will be decided based on the operational needs of SFRC.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with admission and orientation of new clients to the facility, including Rules of Residency and Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensure a safe, quiet, and supportive environment
  • Observe client behavioral and emotional patterns and report/document observations
  • Using motivational interviewing and active listening to support clients recovering from drug/alcohol dependence
  • Intervene with de-escalation skills when necessary
  • Work with the Clinical Team to ensure clients are working on their treatment plan goals
  • Conduct assessments as assigned by the Clinical Team
  • Support the team with various administrative tasks
  • Communicate effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary care environment, including but not limited to nurses, therapists, case managers, peer support workers, and other team members to ensure quality treatment
  • Review instructions and supervisor updates for each Client's program, interpret previous data, collect narrative data, and respond to program communication
  • Provide Clients with emotional and/or behavioral support when necessary and assist in developing specific behavioral treatments, including coping skills, anger management, and other self-regulation activities
  • Anticipate and respond to client needs, including crisis intervention, and provide instruction in the milieu setting
  • Assist in emergency situations, following established protocols and procedures, including administering basic first aid and/or performing CPR if necessary
  • Document any incidents as defined by SFRC's policies and procedures on incident reporting
  • Ensure clients are following the program schedule, including group activities, telehealth appointments, and individual check-ins
  • Continue professional development with educational courses, workshops, and self-study
  • Caring for clients in a manner that provides emotional support and encouragement and fosters a compassionate atmosphere to promote safety and trust
  • Facilitate groups for clients to discuss issues that may arise in the milieu of CCSS.
  • Document group notes for non-clinical client groups in the E.H.R.
  • Transport clients to appointments when required
  • Checking in visitors with warmth and in a timely manner
  • Conduct BAC and urine Drug Screenings, conduct daily charting on all clients, perform bedroom checks, etc.
  • Actively participate in the shift change protocol to ensure pertinent client information is shared with the team
  • Monitor client chores and laundry according to the daily schedule
  • Ensure oversight of linens and other program supplies and materials
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal Law, and perform duties in accordance with SFRC Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures
  • Understand and maintain HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to SRFC
  • Provide coordination, availability, and full participation in all aspects of any programmatic review, survey, site visit, and/or program evaluation
  • Work with the Supervisor and other program staff to facilitate recreational and social aspects of the program
  • Engage patients in activities and interactions designed to encourage the achievement of treatment goals.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety and provide excellent customer service.
  • Behavioral Health Associates may assist clients with children within the parameters of the Guidelines for Mothers in residential treatment policy

  12. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
  13. Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with residents, families, staff, and the public
  14. Valid and insurable Driver's License based on SFRC Insurance standards

Education and Experience:
  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  2. (2) years of experience in customer service or patient/client care facing
  3. Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) within one year of employment with SFRC
  4. CPR Certified
