The Aftermarket Assistant Manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding salvage and recycling revenue goals. The Aftermarket Assistant Manager is responsible for executing the product fulfillment of salvage sales, inventory control of various aftermarket product and for meeting the agency's environmental goal by increasing diversion to landfill through vendor sourcing, hazmat containment and disposition, conducting training to warehouse, retail and donations staff and developing external partnerships. Collaboration with other departments and developing various recycling training programs are important functions of this job.

The Aftermarket Assistant Manager provides immediate supervision to Supervisors, Material Handlers and Wholesale/Outlet and partners closely with the Aftermarket Manager to achieve cross functionality to meet daily business needs. This role is responsible for understanding and improving operational key performance indicators that include the following stakeholders: Operations, Aftermarket, Donations, Retail, and E-Commerce. Collaboration with other departments and developing holistic approach to creating operational efficiencies, generating revenue and/or reducing expenses.

What You Will Do:
  • Ensure compliance of all DOT, FMSCA and OSHA regulations in accordance with local, state and federal regulations; ensures scheduled preventative maintenance is conducted on all fleet commercial vehicles and forklifts assigned to Donated Goods
  • Instruct employees and participants concerning safety expectations and requirements for workplace, e.g., cleanliness, organization of production area; trains employees and participants in transportation, salvage and recycling Standard Operating Procedures; hires, trains and provides performance feedback for assigned employees
  • Ensure processing occurs most efficiently, working with program participants and associates to ensure materials are properly sorted, wastes are minimized and maximum diversion occurs; regularly analyzes work flow processes and recommends process improvements; identifies and documents opportunities to improve systems efficiencies, reduce costs or otherwise streamline existing processes to ensure rapid and efficient operations
  • Prepares work instructions and assignments for drivers, participants and employees; ensures all pick-ups are loaded correctly and in a timely manner, ensures all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time, e.g., Pick Up Slip, Load Log
  • Coordinates full compliance to e-waste programs; trains others to process e-waste according to Standard Operating Procedures; maintains required records/data on e-waste donations and processing
  • Ensure that store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards, and that safety procedures are understood and followed by all employees
  • Ensure that Loss Prevention matters are reported in a timely manner
  • Interview, hire, train, and direct the activities of all drivers, dispatchers, dock workers and warehouse personnel to provide an efficient and effective work force
  • Partner with retail, donation's and operation's leadership team and provide training to personnel in identifying various recyclable commodities
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Role:
  • At least 1 year of management experience
  • At least 1 year of related experience in a retail or warehouse operational environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient math and / or accounting skills
  • Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic background
  • Ability to work fully onsite out of the Oakland Warehouse
