Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist


Job Details

The Purchasing and Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for purchasing and maintenance of inventory control functions to include the creation of daily purchase orders, completion of cycle counts and FIFO analysis, maintenance of inventory records, implementation of warehouse slotting system and weekly warehouse transfers. Maintains inventory ordering controls in systematic manner and performs other inventory maintenance projects as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Evaluate and review recommended order quantities and place purchase orders as needed to maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet the needs of productionPlace purchase orders timely and correctlyMaintain appropriate purchasing system controls for assigned vendorsUphold quality standards, methods and reporting as requiredConfers with vendors to obtain product information such as specifications, availability, and delivery schedule for non-stock, special order itemsResolve receiving and accounts payable exceptionsPerform expediting functions and update system expected arrival dates as appropriateMonitor purchase orders to affect pricing and part accuracy, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions as established per vendorUpdate price changes from vendors with approval from direct reportPerform purchasing administrative functions, including item database system maintenance, and preparingKnowledge of corrugate and resin industryMonitors and maintains current inventory levels; tracks orders and investigates problemsReport all shortages, damages and mis-shipments on appropriate formsWork with AP and Shipping/Receiving departments on 3-way match systemRoutinely conduct cycle counts and inventory aging analysis/solutionsHandle all product recall procedures within the facilityPerform other duties as assignedHours & Classification:8:00 am- 5:00pmFull time, salaryRequirements:Understanding of Manufacturing materials, formats and processes3+ years of experience in food manufacturing environmentAttention to detail and an ability to prioritize as neededSelf-directed, dependable and result orientedProficient in MS Office Suite (Excel/Outlook)Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze and interpret inventory and reporting data.Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external personnel.Knowledge of ERP and MRP functionality.Experience using metrics to perform analysisMust have a sense of urgency regarding deadlines and resolving issuesERP experience a plus
