Summary of Position
The Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire is seeking to hire a successor to the founding director of its Center for Impact Finance. The Carsey School Center for Impact Finance (CSCIF) works with community development organizations, government agencies, Community Development Financial Institutions, banks, philanthropic organizations and businesses. The Center's mission is to equip the community development finance field with the products, tools, skills, and connections to address inequality and foster economic, ecological, and community resilience.

  • Master's degree in a field relevant to community development finance such as public policy, community development, business or urban planning.
  • At least 15 years of experience in finance, community development or related field, with demonstrated experience in grant writing.
  • Good organization skills, detail orientation, persistence, the ability to prioritize and multi-task, meet deadlines and solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a supportive, people-centered approach.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the community development sector and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in driving social change.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and representatives from the nonprofit, corporate, philanthropic, and public sectors, and with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
  • Strong fundraising skills.
  • Strong skills in facilitative leadership; communicate effectively with both internal and external constituencies; and, work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a tight-knit team.
  • Ability to think strategically, remaining focused on goals and objectives;
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

  • Lead a dynamic Center comprised of highly skilled fellows and staff committed to the mission of both the Center and the School which it is part of.

  • Communicates CSCIF's mission, values and goals to key stakeholders including the advisory board, partner organizations, government agencies and funders.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Build relationships with other thought leaders, and other prospective partners, in the field; including funders, investors, practitioners, regulators and academics, to increase the visibility of the Center, secure resources to support its research agenda, and ensure the ongoing relevance of its work to key external stakeholders.
Duty/Responsibility
  • Work with the Center's team members to identify, develop, promote and carry out a research and consulting agenda that responds to the emerging needs of the field of community development impact finance and advances innovative and impactful practices within it.
