JOB SUMMARY:
Directs and guides the overall accounting function, establishes, and maintains the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives; to maintain accurate and complete financial records, in compliance with all legal requirements and US GAAP standards. Prepares and analyzes financial reports, providing a timely and accurate review of financial results, variances, and trends in order to enable leadership to drive breakthrough performance. Represents finance as a team member of the Express Leadership Team.
JOB DUTIES:
- Manages the end-to-end activity of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, cash receipts, credits, discounts, incentives, royalties and rebates.
- Manage the problem solving of account balances with trading partners (AR customers and AP vendors).
- Discuss financial terms and conditions with customers and vendors, perform negotiations as needed.
- Manage accounting issues as they arise and conduct deep dive investigations as needed.
- Develop and improve accounting control policies, procedures, systems to support growth & efficiency.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, feedback and maintaining strong relationships.
- Participate in team meetings and drive collaboration across business functions.
- Perform month-end reconciliation and account closing processes.
- Champion the businesses development of key performance metrics and tracks performance over time.
- Assists with year-end Corporate financial audit and tax preparation and filings as needed.
- Identify financial risks and develop appropriate action plans.
- Serve as a member of the Express Leadership team, setting strategy and direction for the organization.
- Together with the CEO, review month-end reporting and develop the latest forecast for the financial year.
- Prepare the MBR (Monthly Business Review) slide deck and co-present along with the CEO to the Board.
- Develop the annual budget with the CEO and direction from the Express Leadership Team.
- Develop key financial information and slides for town hall meetings, annual company meetings, national sales meetings, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s and/or Master s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
- C.P.A. is preferred but not required.
- 5+ years experience in accounting.
- Enthusiasm for adapting to and driving change.
- Confidential and clean financial history.
- Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
- Excellent computer skills with advanced Excel proficiency; NetSuite experience a plus.
