**Summary**

Position located in Pine Ridge, SD. The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized nursing care to patients, guide and coordinate the work of professional and non-professional staff, serve as a role model and nurse clinical coach, and plan, organize and implements programs and process that improve the quality of patient care for multiple areas during non-administrative hours for all nursing departments. Position is subject to rotating shifts; days, nights, weekends, holidays.

+ **Duties**

* Serves as the Tour Coordinator at PRSU for all hours including evening, nights, weekends, and holidays.

* Collaborates with Unit Supervisors, Chief Nurse Executive, medical staff and the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Manager to assure compliance with accrediting organizations standards e.g,; The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), etc.

* As Shift Coordinator, must set overall objectives expectations during non-administrative hours based upon seriously ill or injured patients and ability to interpret plan of care to patient and family members as well as mentor and coach experienced professional nursing staff.

* Coordinates patient care and support activities to endure smooth hospital operation for admissions, discharges, and transfers (inta-and inter-facility); and call back for support departments, i.e. Laboratory, X-Ray, Operating Room, MVO transport drivers, and Medical Staff

This position is subject to rotating shifts; days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to provide continuity of patients care and rotating of services as needs. The shift rotations may vary from 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts.

**BASIC REQUIREMENT(S)**:

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:

**Specialized Experience GS-11:** Experience in providing nursing care to include recent experience (within past 5 years) in all of the following: preterm labor care, labor and delivery care, post-partum care & newborn care, emergency room care, Pediatric care, Acute care. Experience in providing clinical coaching and mentoring to staff nurses in all the above mentioned areas. Experience as a supervisor. Certifications in the following preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
