This position is a single contributor job, and the owner of this position has the sole responsibilities of achievements of the task of gaining environmental compliance into the EU and other select regions.
Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection and analysis on the European Union requirements for environmental material impact of Eos Energy Storage Systems
  • Partner with practitioner to develop and complete Life Cycle Assessment per ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006. Complete Environmental Product Declaration against a PCR-2021-0006 and EN50693
  • Utilize Excel or other tools to create and maintain internal database of every piece part used in Eos Energy Storage System production
  • Track environmental parts-per-million counts of weight of lead, plastics, and other parts of the official journal of the EU
  • Research and communicate U.S. state, Canadian province and global obligations and initiatives related to the responsible recycling of consumer electronics to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Research and communicate European Union directives on electronics, packaging, and battery waste including manufacturers obligations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of current and upcoming EU requirements that could impact Eos Declaration of Conformity
  • Spearhead creation of upcoming EU Battery Regulation "Eco Pass" as well as communicate practical implications for Eos internal stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of the following environmental regulations:
    • Directive 2012/19/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 4 July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (weee).
    • Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2011 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (recast) with EEA relevance. (RoHS2)
    • Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), establishing a European Chemicals Agency, amending Directive 1999/45/EC and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 793/93 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1488/94 as well as Council Directive 76/769/EEC and Commission Directives 91/155/EEC, 93/67/EEC, 93/105/EC and 2000/21/EC (Text with EEA relevance)Text with EEA relevance
    • California Prop 65 for Batteries and BESS
  • Experience with standard tools and databases available in the industry for materials compliance tracking and reporting
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-governing mindset with the drive to get things across the finish line
Education and Experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent in materials science or related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
Travel
  • Local Travel
  • Overnight/North America Travel: 10-25%
Working Conditions
  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
