Job Summary:
The Operations/Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high standards of quality, and promoting a safe work environment. This role involves managing staff, optimizing workflow, and collaborating with various departments to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop production team members to achieve performance targets.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and feedback.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and high morale.
Production Management:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily production activities to meet production targets.
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to ensure efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Implement and maintain production standards, policies, and procedures.
Quality Control:
- Ensure all products meet quality specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production area.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct safety training and ensure all team members follow safety procedures.
- Investigate and report any accidents or safety incidents.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Utilize lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Track and analyze production metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Inventory and Resource Management:
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to ensure adequate supply.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to order materials and supplies as needed.
- Optimize the use of resources to reduce waste and control costs.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with other departments, such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with management to provide updates on production status and issues.
- Prepare and present production reports and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
