Job Description

Analyze and review standard and actual product/distribution costs at all levels of production and distribution. Under general supervision and functional guidance, applies standard procedures and personal judgement to complete assigned tasks or process steps. Solicits ideas and expertise while working with team members to build proficiency in technical skill set, acquire in-depth process knowledge, and increase overall business knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associates at this level are expected to apply their base of technical operational, process or project skills to tasks of defined scope and moderate complexity. In the course of executing these tasks, they will seek guidance and expertise from team members, and task-level approval from their supervisor. Tasks may include: problem analysis and definition; compilation and analysis of production data and recording of the financial results for product/transactions not handled through the computerized accounting system; research and analysis of monthly financial results from production and sales (including variances and inventory balances) for unusual/incorrect activity (resulting from incorrect inventory transactions by plant staff, manual accounting transaction and/or system error); project support and process support, including training, communications and work management; technical and procedural documentation.

Observing (a control function) auditing and compiling the yearly physical inventory process. Researching and analyzing the financial results of the inventory for errors, omissions and duplications.

Continuously updates skills and knowledge of AG manufacturing processes, technology and equipment, updates to Accounting rules/pronouncements, AG methods of estimating, recording and projecting production costs including labor, overhead and variances, AG computer systems including the interrelationships, data and means of accessing the data through self-study, formal training, contacts with plant/corporate ISD/Accounting, and interaction with American Greetings associates. Prepares to assume position of increased responsibility within American Greetings.

Education Required:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Functional understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and standard cost accounting practices.
Competency in computer software applications and spread sheeting applications.
Competency in communication skills including verbal and written communiqu.
