Description

SUMMARY: The Mechanic repairs and maintains production machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be knowledgeable on all equipment on can lines to be able to set up,

adjust, repair, operate, and maintain within a proficient time frame.
  • Be knowledgeable and proficient in adjustment and repair of all line support equipment; such

as tape machines, strappers, stretch wrappers, jet printers, conveyors, cover up machines,

labelers, etc.
  • Check quality of units being produced and take remedial action to correct any quality problems.
  • Recommend any necessary repairs or improvements to equipment to the Production Manager
  • Work with Machine Shop personnel on major breakdowns and overhaul work
  • Train operators and apprentices when needed.
  • Complete all necessary QC forms and reports in an accurate and complete manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), training with completion of journeyman training for die setter/press mechanic as required by the company or similar training as received elsewhere; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees within the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have completed journeyman training requirements as required by the Company or similar training elsewhere. Must be certified in CPR, basic first aid and fully trained in Lockout and Tagout requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
