What You ll Do

The Design Engineering Manager is with the design engineering team of Samsung Foundry at Samsung Semiconductor Inc. This person will manage the Samsung Foundry customer's design from Spec to Silicon and should have core expertise in one or more of these areas and also have end to end knowledge of entire chip design execution cycle involving Architecture, Micro Architecture, RTL Integration, Synthesis, Design Verification, Timing Constraints, Physical Design, with experience in Heterogenous Integration involving 2.5D/3D Implementation. The candidate should have prior experience in one or more of these market segments HPC (AI/ML), Automotive, Networking involving ARM based CPU, GPU, etc. This position requires you to work with both customer and Internal teams seamlessly.

  • Review customers spec/requirements and finalize the architectural spec by working with customer and Samsung internal teams.
  • Work with internal and external IP teams to finalize IP s, discuss integration challenges and customers requirements.
  • Work with Design Verification, DFT, Physical Design, Timing, Power Teams to debug and resolve implementation issues.
  • Cover end to end execution of a customer s design from Spec to Silicon.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years of experience or Masters in Electrical Engineering with 13+ years of Industry Experience or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of Industry .
  • Experience in managing and building teams.
  • HPC Solutions, Chiplet based designs , D2D , 2.5D / 3D Heterogeneous Integration.
  • Solid experience in interconnect protocols like AHB/AXI/ACE/ACE-Lite/NoC.
  • Solid experience in some or all of these HBM2/2e, GDDR5/6, LPDDR4/5 , PCIE5/6 protocols as well as familiarity with cache interfaces/protocols and integrating these IP s.
  • Solid experience SoC Design Spec to Silicon and Silicon Bringup etc.
  • Solid experience in ARM architecture, coherency protocols and virtualization.
  • Solid experience in design convergence cycle involving architecture, micro architecture, synthesis, design verification , DFT, timing closure, thermal, SI/PI etc.
  • Core Expertise in one or more of these domains Architecture. Micro Architecture, RTL Integration, Synthesis, Design Verification, Timing Constraints, Physical Design.
  • Project management and deep technical customer interaction.
  • 10% domestic and international travel, based in San Jose Samsung DSA office.
  • Strong customer orientation, good communication and presentation skills.
