Purpose:

Direct, coordinate, and lead all functions necessary for continuous shift operation of float glass manufacture. Directs and coordinates the Shift Leadership Team. Able to act as the fill in for these positions as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment by implementing improvement systems in order to eliminate any work-related injuries and ensuring all employees understand all safety requirements.
  • Direct ownership of the Shift Leadership Team to ensure consistent execution of production plans, area process plans, schedules, training plans, and manufacturing processes that are established and trained by the area Departments.
  • With input from the Shift Leadership Team, identify and communicate gaps in processes and training to the area Departments.
  • Align on the correct protocol for standard communication and escalation of concerns with the area Departments and ensure adherence.
  • Responsible for the coordination, direction, and leadership of our workforce to ensure that targets and objectives are met safely and effectively.
  • Meet daily, weekly, monthly (consistently) with the area Departments to review expectations and inspections to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
  • To facilitate and drive team execution for customer satisfaction through safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Responsible for maintaining / inspecting / auditing:
  • Adherence to our Safety Systems, customer satisfaction systems, production processes against established plans, identification of gaps in training / skill set, and our continuous improvement systems.
  • Together with the Manufacturing Leadership teams, establish any requirement in the short, medium, and long term, defining training plans in order to achieve the desired behaviors across all shifts.
  • Lead the Production teams through the Shift Leadership Team to ensure that shift, daily, and weekly goals are achieved safely.
  • Establish and maintain systems needed to ensure consistency across all shifts.
  • Responsible for safe operation and protection of all facility assets.
  • Establish and own needed discussions and documentation to ensure alignment and understanding of all changes across all shifts (ERS, emails, etc.)
  • Participate with the Plant Leadership Staff to establish and drive the strategic vision.
  • Align with the values and leadership traits established by Plant Leadership Team at all times - lead by example.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Operation Management / Engineering / related business field or the equivalent skills in experience.
  • 5-7 years of manufacturing or related experience.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through leadership by example.
  • Demonstrated ability to continually improve the process, product, and skills of the organization.
  • Ability to meet safety and Job Hazard analysis requirements for glass manufacturing.


Qualifications Desired:

  • Six sigma certifications
  • Previous glass experience
  • Engineering/Manufacturing Experience
  • Desired to have a working knowledge of all activities in all areas of the glass manufacturing process.
