Job Description:

The Service Technician will be under the supervision of the Service Manager and will be responsible for servicing and repairing semi-trailers, including box trucks, to meet DOT standards. This involves tasks such as diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, conducting routine maintenance, and replacing various components like flooring, rub rails, and doors. The role requires expertise in welding, electrical work, fabrication, sheet metal, and mechanical repairs. Additionally, the technician will maintain accurate records of maintenance and DOT compliance, operate vehicles safely, and ensure a clean work environment. Other duties include troubleshooting, using appropriate tools, and adhering to safety protocols while performing repairs in a timely manner.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a positive attitude, a willingness to learn new skills, and excellent mechanical aptitude, complemented by strong oral and written communication abilities. They should be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and thrive in a team environment. A Certified Forklift Driver is preferred, or the ability to obtain certification, along with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Regular attendance during Monday through Friday business hours is required, with flexibility depending on the dealership location. Adherence to grooming and dress code guidelines is expected. Experience with diesel engines is advantageous, a Class A CDL and being DOT certified in FHWA Inspections & Air Brakes. Physical demands include manual dexterity, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of heavy objects. The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and exposure to chemicals, exhaust fumes, and moving machinery.
