SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Food Service Manager will be responsible for all food pantry coordination and execution at The Salvation Army in Albany and is responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, reporting statistics, ordering supplies, organizing the pantry, tracking services, and working in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, as well as with, the Food Pantries For the Capital District, the Alliance for Better Health for the Food As Medicine and PACE programs. This position will also be responsible for ordering fresh food and coordinating delivery and/or pickup with local farmers for the NY Food for NY Families program, as well as other food donations.



Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordination, oversight, and organization of all food pantry volunteers
Manage and maintain volunteer files
Ordering food supplies
Receive orders, unloading food truck and putting away food
Deliver Food As Medicine (FAM) boxes
Keep food pantry stocked with food for mainstream and FAM patrons
Create food delivery routes
Outreach to other possible food suppliers
Maintain client list and meet minimum requirements for number of clients
Input client data into Oasis
Provide accurate and timely monthly reports
Provide referrals to other programs and agencies
Create Google Forms for programs, when applicable
Attend and participate in regular food pantry related community meetings
Maintain a neat office and pantry space, including freezers and fridges
Ensure property meets health department codes
Coordinate meal programs (Canteen and Senior)
Shop for food items, when needed
Pick-up food donations and record and report weights
Order food for FAM, pantry, Senior Lunch, and Canteen
Assist outreach workers and staff to source food/snacks for canteen and youth programs
Assist with Christmas and Thanksgiving food distribution
Any other duties deemed necessary



Qualifications:

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


Willingness to uphold and support The Salvation Armys mission and ministry.
Associate degree (AA) and at least two years experience in relative work preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Merge and PowerPoint as well as Google Forms.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Applies tact in diplomacy with internal and external constituents.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Superb written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable in high profile situations as well as with sleeve rolled up.
Ability to operate independently self-motivated, self-management.
Highly organized.
Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Able to routinely lift and carry grocery bags and boxes weighing 25 pounds or more.
Training in food safety and handling through Health Department, as needed.
