Job Details

We are looking for a new colleague in our Commercial Vehicle Engineering Laboratory in Lafayette to assist with duties related to purchase requests and qualifying files for the Department of Transportation.


What you can look forward to as Technical Admin

  • DOT Test Fleet Administrator duties including Transport Operator Plates Renewal, Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse Limited Query Searches, MCS-150 updates, Vehicle Annual Inspections, International Registration Plan and Unified Carrier Registration, International Fuel Tax Agreement, and IFTA Registration.
  • Lab supply and purchase fulfillment duties such as Identifying opportunities for improving the lab purchasing process, developing an application of system to track status of orders through the entire process, and processing order requests from lab personnel as needed by tracking order status (Requested, Submitted, Approvals, To indirect buyer, ordered, received, payment sent, closed)
  • Lab HS&E compliance coordination, understanding and monitoring HSE requirements for the lab, and driving a culture of safety in the laboratory by creating regular HSE improvement opportunities.
  • Establishing a solid HS&E compliance protocol for the lab including process metrics, auditing the new process, and reassessing regularly for CI opportunities.
  • Scheduling Lafyette and System Administration (Global) including reviewing, accepting, and assigning daily lab requests, rejecting non-compliant requests and, as appropriate, forwarding completed lab requests to engineers for their final review (PER status), and managing PER status requests.
  • Maintaining LAF MERLIN keywords, test parameters and associated MPIDS, inserting and updating of new test specifications, training of new users, etc. (MERLIN is a TRW developed, web based, .NET application used across many TRW legacy functions to manage laboratory requests and associated lab data.)
  • Representing TED division in the bi-weekly MERLIN Sys Admin meetings. Acting as global MERLIN system administrator for ZF TED responsible for training and supporting site system admins at global sites.


Your profile as Technical Admin:

  • High School Diploma and 5+ years of experience in an engineering environment OR Associate Degree in a technology field or specialized technical degree and 2+ years of experience in an engineering environment
  • Familiarity with machining
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to use measuring equipment and strong mechanical ability
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDL Class A license.
  • Experience with electronic equipment and test control programming preferred
