Opportunity Overview

Assist the Vice President with accounting execution of assigned student housing property-level financial information and prepare financial statements in a timely and accurate manner. The candidate will be expected to exhibit creative and flexible skills, working in a relatively small, yet growing environment. In an effort to buildout an in-house accounting team and function, input regarding policies, processes, and procedures may be requested.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including full accounts payable processing, journal entries, monthly accruals/amortizations, and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for multiple student housing properties within Company portfolio.
  • Respond to Property Managers' questions regarding monthly charges, invoice coding, and month-end reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget.
  • Review monthly charges, Gross Potential Rent report, and other AR balances.
  • Calculate monthly property management fees and process payments.
  • Prepare month-end reporting packages and review and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Prepare annual work papers and reconciliations for year-end tax returns and external audit.
  • Assist Controller with cash flow analyses.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and help increase efficiencies.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 1+ years of prior Real Estate property-level accrual basis accounting
  • Student housing or multifamily property accounting experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel application
  • Experience with Entrata, MRI, and/or Yardi accounting software preferred

The role is based out of Dallas, Texas and requires the qualified individual to work onsite.
