With our new contract manufacturing candy factory in Albion, NE, we're poised to take candy-making to new levels of innovation, and we're looking for a talented Factory Operations Manager to lead the way.
About the Role:
As our Factory Operations Manager, you'll be the driving force behind the day-to-day operations of our candy factory in the small town of Albion, NE. You'll oversee all aspects of production, from managing inventory and production schedules to ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality control of the candies produced. You'll be instrumental in getting our factory up and running smoothly while making sure that every candy that leaves our facility is of the highest quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage production processes for gummy, fruit chew, hard candy, and other candy manufacturing in our 2500 sq ft. facility, working hands-on with 1-2 production staff to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Project Management teams to customize processes for each client's unique needs, ensuring that every candy meets our clients' specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee inventory management, production scheduling, cleaning protocols, testing procedures, and shipping/receiving operations to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA guidelines, through rigorous documentation and quality control measures.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings, implementing best practices and lean manufacturing principles to maximize productivity and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Food Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred (not required with the right experience)
- 2+ years of experience in food processing or manufacturing operations, with a proven track record of success in setting up and managing production processes. Willing to train the right people if experience is less.
- Strong knowledge of, or capability of quickly learning, food safety standards and regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA guidelines, with experience in implementing and maintaining robust food safety programs.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and process optimization techniques is a plus.
