INTRODUCTION

The Director of Operations is responsible for coordinating the flight operations of the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In conjunction with the VP of Ops, plan, organize and direct all aspects of the operations department, including assisting in the development and/or administration of policies, department goals and objectives; direct and coordinate program efforts toward the safest, most practical, efficient and profitable performance of the Company's flight schedules and related activities; develop and monitor program budget.
  • Oversee compliance of all regulations, directives and operations specifications which are concerned with, relative to, or have effect on flight activities of the Company; ultimate authority in the determination of the initiation, continuation, diversion and termination of a flight in compliance with FARs and the operations specifications.
  • Maintain and disseminate various handbooks, manuals and publications consistent with flight operations.
  • Assure that each flight is monitored with respect to departure and arrival, maintenance and mechanical delays and any known conditions that may adversely affect the safety of flight.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate staff; serve as a positive, constructive, communicative leader for the organization and its customers and policies for the industry and its participants.
  • Serve as positive role model for ethical management behavior and promote an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles that is consistent with these principles; provide guidance, direction, management and support in a secure and dignified work environment; promote and support the mission of Empire Airlines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • ATP, supervisory experience and previous experience sufficient to comply with the 14 CFR 119.67.
  • Related college degree preferred.
  • Must have knowledge/experience in evaluating organizational operations as they relate to policies, goals and objectives.
  • Must have excellent communications skills, both oral and written, have a valid driver's license with insurable record through Empire's policy.
  • Incumbent must receive FAA approval.


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in an office environment, outdoors and in an aircraft.
  • Will be exposed to inclement weather.
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires manual dexterity, speaking, seeing and hearing to conduct business.
  • Must understand and adhere to the organization's FAA/DOT required drug and alcohol program.


PAY & BENEFITS
  • Starting pay range for the Director of Flight Operations is $150,000 to $200,000 annually.
