Description

Are you a VPK Teacher looking for a new home for the upcoming school year? Do you have a passion for educating our younger learners and preparing them for Kindergarten? We're looking for a dedicated, outcome-driven Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Teacher at Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County's J.D. Floyd Little Dolphins Preschool!

As a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Teacher, you will:

• Create daily lesson plans that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children, with clear objectives for all lessons. Target different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills.
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
• Clean, sanitize and straighten the classroom, toys, etc. throughout and at the end of each day.
• Maintain attendance records.
• Develop supportive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information to parents, coworkers, and the director on a continuous basis.
• Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and occasional community events during evening or weekend hours.
• Attend and participate in continuous training, meeting or exceeding 10 in-service training hours annually.
• Adhere to rules and regulations set forth by Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County, Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Early Leaning Coalition (ELC).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience teaching VPK is highly preferred
• A Child Development Associate certification (CDA), Florida Child Care Professional Credential for Birth through Five (FCCPC) or an Associate's or higher in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (would have to be shown on your DCF Child Care Training Transcript)
• Current CPR & First Aid certification
• Flexibility and willingness to work with all preschool ages if needed (Infants through VPK)
• A positive attitude and the ability to work as a team
• Ability to pass a Level II background check and pre-employment drug test
• Applicants must also have the required VPK courses on their DCF Child Care Training Transcript prior to being offered a position
