Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service Technical and Environmental Services Group has an opening based at the MES BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Field Office for a Mechanic Trainee, Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, or Lead Mechanic (depending on experience). Responsibilities include performing installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used for a variety of projects at BWI Airport as well as other MES operated facilities throughout the state. This position will require the ability to perform confined space entry, use of a respirator, ability to work outside, and the ability to work a flexible schedule when assigned.

This Field Office is a designated emergency essential facility, and therefore the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions may be required. Position requires ability to obtain Homeland Security Clearance.

Estimated Pay Range:

Mechanic Trainee: $38,017.55 - $45,500.00

Mechanic: $46,001.76 - $63,251.71

Senior Mechanic: $50,601.10 - $69,577.03

Lead Mechanic: $55,661.62 - $76,534.73

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications for all position levels require graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate. All must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points. All must be able to lift 50 pounds. All must have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in related field of study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three (3) years of the required experience.
  • Mechanic Trainee: requires no additional experience.
  • Mechanic: requires three (3) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Senior Mechanic: requires five (5) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Lead Mechanic - requires seven (7) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
