**Salary:**

$12/hr

**Schedule:**Saturday 7:30AM - 11:30AM; 11:30AM - 3:30PM

**Overview:**

Under the general supervision of the Food and Beverage Manager, the Fort Hill Caf Attendant position is responsible for the day-to-day frontline food service operation at the Fort Hill Activity Center. Major duties include food preparation and service, sanitation, money handling and customer inquiries.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Prepare food and support items needed for the shift.

- Follow sanitary practices for food handling, and general cleaning of the facility.

- Adhere to all requirements of the Health Department.

- Ring up sales, handle cash, process credit card payments and report computer concerns. Follow all park district policies related to proper cash handling procedures including balancing cash and preparing appropriate reports (i.e., daily cash statements, receipts and deposits).

- Greet customers as they approach the counter. Respond quickly to customer complaints or inquiries.

- Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Report needed items to Manager.

- Respond appropriately to emergencies. Promptly report accidents to the manager and, in the managers absence, the Superintendent of Facilities.

- Maintain safe, clean and friendly environment for guests, co-workers and the general public.

- Report to work as scheduled.

- Maintain a proactive approach to safety and risk management.

- Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.

- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with residents, customers, and co-workers. Ensure effective communication.

- Follow and model compliance with all District, State, Federal and departmental safety and risk management, personnel, administrative policies and procedures, ordinances and regulations.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

* General knowledge of customer service and food handling.

* Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns as needed.

* Attention to detail and thoroughness.

* Ability to engage with customers politely, promptly and professionally.

* Ability to communicate effectively.

* General knowledge of or ability to learn emergency and safety procedures.

* Ability to operate kitchen machinery and tools.

**Education and Experience:**

* Minimum one (1) year of experience in customer service, food operations or related field.

* Experience with different types of tender, credit cards and other point of sale items is preferred.

* Possession of, or ability to obtain, Illinois Food Handlers Certification within one (1) month of date of hire.

* Must be 16 years old.

**Special Considerations:**

* Subject to inside environmental conditions.

* Exposure to heat from appliances, cleaning chemicals, food and odors.

* Subject to modified/flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.

* Ability to lift or carry light to medium weight (less than 50 lbs.) objects and perform team lifts or assistive devices for heavy items.

* Ability to perform prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting and climbing, cleaning for extended periods of time.

* Ability to perform job duties for prolonged periods of time.
