Confidential search for a Vice President/General Manager of a Food and Beverage Manufacturing facility.


The Role

Responsible for site operations at facility with 600 union and non-union employees who convert raw materials into finished products, package and distribute a high-quality food items. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the VP/GM must ensure operations meet safety, food safety, quality, sustainability, cost, volume, and service criteria. Executes strategy to achieve short and long-term operating and profit goals. Directs administration of policies for site within context of companywide policies. Implements and drives execution of continuous improvement principles. Helps to formulate short and long-term operating procedures and strategies in areas such as quality improvement, cost reduction and manufacturing/processing efficiency. Develops and implements plans to achieve appropriate production volumes and profit projections. Ensures that product quality and safety standards are met within budgetary limits. Develops talent and capability for the organization.


Job Purpose and Key Accountabilities

Ensures safety, health and environmental compliance

Leads manufacturing facility focused on delivering world class sustainable performance

Develops and updates site strategy in conjunction with company vision and strategy

Directly supervises, motivates and evaluates site leadership team who are responsible for refining and packaging activities, materials, and warehousing

Provides guidance to site leadership team for continuous improvement initiatives.

Provides adequate support, training and development of plant staff

Tracks and reports data for manufacturing cost controls, cost estimates, capacity plan, manpower and facility requirements

Monitors manufacturing and financial performance and implements corrective action planning when needed in order to meet company objectives

Implements Food Safety Quality Control functions to meet the Company s Quality System requirements

Helps develop, review, modify and implement operating systems in sanitation, safety, quality, preventative maintenance, general manufacturing practices and best management practices

Develops and builds capability of plant personnel, including support of performance and talent management activities

Ensures that entire staff has the safety, customer, and quality as the overall focus

Develops plans for implementing continuous improvement principles
