University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, Inc. (UM FPI) coordinates and supports the clinical activities of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We employ more than 1,000 non-physician staff who support the outpatient practices of our faculty. Our staff provides administrative support functions such as business development, finance, human resources, marketing, information technology, compliance, legal affairs, practice operations support and reimbursement management.


The University of Maryland School of Medicine has nearly 1,000 full-time faculty members involved in teaching, research and clinical practice. UM FPI operates 19 professional associations that represent distinguished physicians in more than 40 specialties and sub-specialties. Our physicians' clinical schedules accommodate approximately 1 million patient visits per year, and we produce revenues in excess of $175 million annually.


GENERAL SUMMARY

$5,000 Sign-On-Bonus


This position offers a unique opportunity for an active and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide direct care and psychiatric social work assistance to patients. Investigates case situations and presents information to other members of health team. Interprets psychiatric/behavioral treatment to patient and patient s family. Refers patient or patient s family to other community resources as needed; works in conjunction with other health care team members to coordinate care; participates in clinical research; and other duties as assigned


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master s degree or PhD in Clinical Psychology.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in an academic setting with curriculum development preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification is required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Develops and maintains Department s Behavioral Health program, drafting supporting policies, procedures, and guidelines for the program.


2. Assesses patients psychosocial status. Communicates with physicians to report patient progress, needs, concerns, and problems. Works closely with all members of the health care team in development of the plan of treatment, including discharge plans, based on the psychosocial assessment and accepted social work interventions.


3. Develops and maintains graduate division behavioral health curriculum and other training modalities with oversight by Program Director. Participates in planning and implementing quality improvement activities. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of field by participating in continuing education activities


4. Acts as a resource person for other members of the health care team, providing in-service education and consultation in understanding behavioral health matters.


5. Maintains up-to-date- knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payor policies


6. Maintains accurate and timely records, including clinical and progress notes, according to department policy. Adheres to all department/hospital policies. Uses the electronic medical record in accordance with the department and/or FPI standard operating procedures and processes
