A leading global Tier 1 automotive supplier is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team in the Detroit area. This role will oversee global purchasing responsibilities for both new and ongoing production programs. They are seeking a results-driven self-starter with a Tier 1 background to report to the Advanced Purchasing Manager at the company's world headquarters.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for:
- Manage bill of material costing for programs, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure supplier performance aligns with program targets.
- Collaborate with Commodity team for quoting and sourcing across programs.
- Support cost saving initiatives for new product development, engineering, and cost estimating through VA/VE and lean activities.
- Communicate with global colleagues and internal customers across the business.
The Senior Buyer should have the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of purchasing experience required.
- Tier 1 automotive manufacturing experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field required.
- Prior experience purchasing metals (steel, aluminum, etc.) or metal parts.
- Experience in issuing RFQs & contract negotiation.
- Understanding of tech reviews & gate reviews.
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical acumen.
- ERP System and MS Office familiarity.

Estimated salary range $100,000 - $115,000 depending on experience.
