Job Details

The Pharmacy Services Specialist is responsible for theoverall coordination and processing of new patient medication orders andreorders. Responsibilities includeverifying insurance benefits; translating and entering new or refillprescriptions into the pharmacy information system; communicating andcollecting co-pay amounts; obtaining authorizations and reauthorizations; andscreening, identifying, resolving or deferring orders that have accountsreceivable or clinical problems. ThePharmacy Services Specialist will work with both internal and externalcustomers to ensure that orders are processed in a timely manner and meet allfinancial and clinical requirements prior to fulfillment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages inbound calls and makes outbound calls related tosetting up specialty medication orders working with medical providers,customers, and other pharmacy staff to ensure patients receive their specialtymedication in a timely manner
  • Enters prescriptions into pharmacy information system
  • Communicates and collects co-payments
  • Works with both internal and external customers to ensurethat orders are processed in a timely manner; with a strong emphasis oncustomer service
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy Technician training or experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
