JOB TITLE: Membership and Wellness Director

REPORTS TO: Associate Executive Director

LOCATION: Y at TCC/Herman and Kate Kaiser Y

FLSA TYPE: Full-time, Exempt

JOB PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Membership and Wellness shall be responsible for all day-to-day functioning of the Member Experience Desk that creates a welcoming culture as well as all functions related to Health & Wellness within the assigned branch location/s. The Director of Membership and Wellness will assist to develop and monitor the branch membership budget to ensure fiscal objectives are met. The position works closely with the Associate Executive Directors to develop operational objectives and innovative approaches for membership growth and retention through membership experience, wellness programming, and new class development. This person will give leadership to the entire facility operations and programs to ensure consistent, superior service procedures to maximize member enrollment and program participation. They will also personally lead the member experience by working at the Member Services desk at prime times and other times as needed or directed by the business needs or association expectations.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):

  1. Follow and enforce all Y @ TCC and YMCA procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Provide leadership for an effective tour and enrollment procedure via desk and wellness staff.
  3. Provide leadership for the continued improvement of all desk and wellness services to include member and constituent relations, information and program registration.
  4. Implements membership strategies that support the recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.
  5. Participates in membership events at both locations and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
  6. Ensure the delivery of appropriate sales and customer service training for desk and wellness staff.
  7. Consistently communicate with Associate Executive Director regarding cleanliness and safety of facility.
  8. Monitor budgeting for all areas of responsibility including membership, fitness floor and group exercise.
  9. Leads assigned aspects of the Annual Fundraising Campaign.
  10. Assume other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor.


Requirements

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in member services, healthy living, marketing, sales, and/or customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations including members, peers/co-workers, supervisors, and volunteers.
  • Staff supervision experience.
  • Ability to learn and retain information related to programs, services, and membership options.
  • Ability to handle conflict management in a positive manner.
  • Passion for working with others and developing strong teams.
  • Excellent Oral Communication Skills, bilingual a plus.
