POSITION SUMMARY

PATES Jet Engine Technician will maintain, repair, and overhaul aircraft engines, modules, components, and accessories to assure compliance with established company standards, contractual obligations, and airworthiness regulatory requirements. Performs technical troubleshooting using mechanical ability and extensive product knowledge. Cross trains in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform disassembly and assembly of jet engines, modules, submodules, components, and assemblies in accordance with all regulatory, original manufacturer, customer, and company requirements using hand tools, power tools or specified equipment.
  • Interpret technical specifications, directives, and relevant publications to identify product discrepancies and deficiencies.
  • Interpret technical standards, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation using mechanical precision measuring tools and instruments as required; verify the conformance of parts to manuals and blueprints with respect to measurements.
  • Troubleshoot to identify problems, adjust and repairs products according to specifications and established procedures.
  • Use machines, tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, shop equipment and consumables necessary to carry out the required tasks.
  • Check for serviceability, conformity documentation completeness and compatibility to applicable standards.
  • Replace defective parts and reassembles units ensuring conformance with applicable regulations and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of maintenance repair processes.
  • Cross train in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participate in cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A&P license holder desired. Powerplant license required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with CFM56 and/or CF6 Jet Engines; to include but not limited to disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing.
  • MRO (Maintenance Repair Organization) or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Shop experience preferred. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics, graphs, blueprints, and other technical information.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
  • Ability to follow and understand related company instructions, company processes, overhaul manuals, and original equipment manufacturer's manuals.
  • Ability to workday shift or second shift, as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
