Founded in 1947 by Nina Vance, the Alley Theatre is a pioneer of regional theatre, and one of the leading nonprofit theatre companies in the United States. The Alley has been awarded the prestigious Regional Theatre Tony Award and the Texas Medal of Arts Award. The Alley has transferred productions to Broadway, Off-Broadway, major European Festivals, and to 40 American cities. In addition to staging multiple world premieres each season, the Theatre develops new work through Alley All New, which includes a Reading Series and annual theatre festival. Traditionally, the Alley reaches 249,000 people through more than 450 performances each season and Education and Community Engagement programs. The Alley is the only performing arts organization in the downtown Houston Theater District to host audiences year-round.

Unique among regional theatres, the Alley is committed to maintaining a Resident Acting Company and providing them work year-round. Nationally recognized directors, actors, playwrights, and designers from across the country have regularly joined the Resident Acting Company in the Alleys 75,000 square-foot Center for Theatre Production to rehearse and create sets, props, and costumes for each play. It has recently renovated its theatre facility with state-of-the-art technology and is located in the heart of downtown Houston. The facilities are wholly owned by the Alley Theatre.

Rob Melrose, Artistic Director at the Alley, took over as artistic leader of the organization in 2019 just prior to the pandemic. His vision for the future of the Alley is both thrilling and ambitious as the Theatre nears its 75th anniversary in 2021-22. When the Theatre reopens, his strategic goals include upholding the Alleys artistic excellence, keeping longtime Alley Theatre devotees eager to return each season, and creating productions and cultivating new audiences that are as diverse and vibrant as the city of Houston. **HOURLY: $15.00/HR Minimum**

**JOB STATEMENT:**

Guest and Ticketing Services Associates provide customer service by assisting patrons with ticket and subscription orders over the phone, web and email, and in person at the walk-up window. Associates will work on show nights distributing will call and assisting patrons at the window. Associates will become knowledgeable of current product offerings in order to best assist patrons.

Guest and Ticketing Services Associates are full-time positions working 40 hours per week. Office hours are 11:30 am - 8:15 pm, daily; applicants must be available nights and weekends.

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**

* Efficiently and effectively process ticket purchases in Tessitura.

* Communicate with patrons via phone, email, web chat, and in person.

* Check phone messages and return calls throughout the day.

* Accurately maintain a cash drawer of $100.00 or more.

* Participate in the Subscriber Renewal campaign which includes outbound calling, emails, and in-person visits.

* Assist Guest Services Manager with special guest-centric projects.

* Attend weekly Marketing team meetings.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Alley Theatre expects the following of each employee: adheres to theatre's policies and procedures; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; meets department productivity standards; participates in Alley Theatre events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements **REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE):**

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, energized and quickly changing environment.

* Be articulate and energetic to ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is provided quickly and efficiently.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.

* Detail oriented, able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task.

* Ability to maintain confidential information.

* Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

* Exhibits a positive attitude with good communication and interpersonal skills.

* Understanding of historical and institutional racism in the American theatre, or a commitment to learning, and to be a part of Alley Theatres efforts to be an anti-racist organization

* 2-3 years of experience in sales or customer service preferred.

* Experience with a ticketing software such as Tessitura preferred.

* High School graduate or GED required.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:**

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

* Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.

* Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where directions and priorities can change rapidly.

* This position requires the flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays, and evening work hours as needed.
