Requirements and Competencies

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have electronics trade school or equivalent military training with emphasis on electronics
  • Must have at least 1 year of practical electronics or fire alarm system experience
  • Must have a good working knowledge of multi-meters and other basic hand tools
  • Must be able to obtain FASA/BASA certification within the first 90 days of employment
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 40 feet using a ladder or high reach lift
  • Must be able to work in attics and other areas not designed for continuous occupation
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes
  • Must be comfortable with exposure to noise, vibrations and motion
  • Must be able to train on and properly use protective gear
  • Must be comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
  • Must be comfortable working around animals
  • Must be available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid state driver's license preferred
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Experience in repairs of Gamewell, Notifier and Simplex fire alarm systems preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics preferred
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes preferred

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform fire alarm inspections under supervision
  • Assist with fire suppression system inspections
  • Inspect/Repair fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit lights, and other safety equipment
  • Perform field/bench repairs of fire/security alarm equipment and associated reporting hardware
  • Perform installation and modification of fire/security systems and associated equipment under supervision
