Position Summary:

Supports the Facility Manager in managing the maintenance teams for the campus to ensure the facility, grounds, and equipment are safe, clean, and well maintained to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness, while meeting cost control objectives.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises maintenance associates with responsibility for hiring, training, developing, and motivating to ensure individual and department performance objectives are achieved
  • Monitors and manages labor productivity and quality of work meeting prescribed performance standards, and to ensure all department Key Performance Indicators targets are achieved.
  • Ensures technical proficiency of maintenance staff by monitoring staff completion of required training to obtain and maintain necessary knowledge, skills, and certifications.
  • Helps oversee Facilities department expense budget and monitors all line item expenses, including labor, repairs, maintenance contracts and supplies to meet budget expectations
  • Assists Facility Manager by overseeing daily progress on execution of large-scale capital projects. Independently manages execution of smaller capital projects.
  • Monitors systems and equipment utilization and effectiveness to ensure optimal operating conditions and to minimize downtime due to unanticipated failures.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal standard operating procedures. Helps maintain all required records and documentation to certify compliance.
  • As part of the culture, actively participates in leading or supporting safety programs and initiatives at the campus.
  • Manages parts inventory associates and ensures proper controls to purchasing and minimize costs.
  • Motivate team to work safely and maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop.
  • Coordinate response to unforeseen emergencies.

Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, industrial refrigeration, and forklift maintenance.
  • May require knowledge of conveyors and pick-to-light technology and systems.
  • Experience with CMMS/ Asset Management tools or systems.

Abilities:
  • Supervise or manage multiple tasks and shift priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Communicate and complete required record keeping functions
  • Articulate and align associates with department and business goals
  • Work needed schedule to perform assigned duties
  • Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time
  • Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks)
  • Read and understand written and numeric product identifiers

Education:
  • Associate degree or advanced specialized training in facilities management and/or related technology or applicable experience in the field.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years in facility maintenance, including 1-3 years in a leadership role.
  • Preferred grocery distribution facility management.
